The film version of the documentary opera Russia : Today premiered in Vladivostok as a special project of the Vladivostok Biennale of the Visual Arts, alongside a public programme of events, in October 2021.

Vladivostok is a city of major significance for the Russia : Today project. In summer 2019, during his artistic residency at the Zarya Center for Contemporary Art, Eugene Birman collected interviews with Vladivostok citizens that became a part of the docopera.

The premiere of the Russia : Today film took place on 27 October 2021 at The Ussuri cinema, and was accompanied by a Q&A session with the video-artist Alexandra Karelina and composer Eugene Birman.

The programme in continued with a screening and a public discussion entitled The Right of a Voice at the Zarya Center of Contemporary Art. The discussion with the Vladivostok artistic community focused on the interdisciplinary character of contemporary art projects, particularly those using sound as their key medium. Among the participants were musicologist Alla Smorodinova, media-artist Vlad Kononkov, artists Roman Ivanischev and Ksenia Frolova from the art group Hero4hero, composer Eugene Birman, artist Alexandra Karelina, stage director Sergej Morozov and producer Tonya Wechsler.

The programme in Vladivostok was curated and presented by the Director of the Vladivostok Biennale of the Visual Arts Yulia Klimko, producer in Vladivostok — Katerina Kornilieva.
